FRC #3875 & #9566 OUTREACH & IMPACT

Our Red Storm Outreach

Red Storm makes FIRST happen in West Michigan by participating in many outreach activities, which include attending school Science Nights and school carnivals to show kids what it takes to build an FTC or FRC robot, exhibiting at the EK STEM Fair and community homecoming festival, passing out candy at the Kentwood Trunk or Treat, participating in the Kentwood Independence Day Parade each year and co-hosting the Robotics Expo at the Grand Rapids Confluence Festival.

Our Events

Red Storm runs five FIRST Robotics events for the robotics community. Our Red Storm students, alumni, mentors, families and friends provide a majority of the volunteers for our events:

Red Storm In The Community

We value community service. We recently adopted the street near our high school and do our part to keep our neighborhood clean. We have been taking part in GE Community Day since 2013 where we painted murals, landscaped, repaired picnic tables, built and installed benches, and pulled weeds for the Lincoln School for the Disabled. When the pandemic hit in 2020, we started Red Storm Cares: Operation Face Shield and recruited 4 other FRC teams and dozens of community members to 3D print over 10,000 face shield headbands and face mask ear guards that we delivered to 100 local organizations. To help the environment, we started volunteering in 2019 at Comprenew to disassemble electronic equipment. The parts are then recycled or properly disposed. In 2018 we got our biggest task which was to make a bulletproof robot for the Grand Rapids Police to practice shooting moving targets on that we collaborated on with the amazing Davenport University.
