SUMMER CAMPS

FLL Explore Robotics Camp

This camp is open to KPS students from Kindergarten to 3rd Grade through the EK-STEAM Sizzlin' Summer Science program. Groups work together with the Spike Essential kit to explore robotics using motors and sensors.

FLL Challenge New Student Robotics Camp

This camp is open to KPS students in 4th and 5th Grade through the EK-STEAM Sizzlin' Summer Science program and Red Storm Robotics. Students work together with the LEGO Spike Prime kit to learn how to build and program a robot. They program their robots to complete a series of missions from a previous season of FIRST LEGO League.

FLL Challenge Returning Student Robotics Camp

This camp is open to KPS students who will be in 5th grade and have participated in FLL Challenge previously. Students work together with the LEGO Spike Prime kit to build and program a robot. They practice building and using unique mechanisms to achieve more difficult missions from a previous season of FIRST LEGO League.

FTC Sumo Bot Camp

This camp is open to KPS students who will be in 6th-8th grade and haven't participated in FTC previously.  Over the course of four weeknights, students work in groups to build and program a small robot to compete in a Sumo Bot Tournament on the final evening. Bots must keep moving for a full match... and don't fall off the platform!

FTC Returning Student Mechanical Camp

This camp is open to KPS students who have completed one or two years of FTC and will be in 7th or 8th grade.
Over the course of four weeknights, students and mentors form small groups. Each group strategizes, designs, prototypes and builds a mechanism to complete one challenge of an FTC style game. On the final evening, all groups compete in a tournament consisting of 2-minute driver controlled matches.

FRC "Work Weeks"

KPS high school students meet for "work weeks". Over the course of four weeknights per week, mentors guide students in developing specific skills the students identified at the beginning of the summer.

FTC Returning Student Programming Camp

This camp is open to KPS students who have completed one or two years of FTC and will be in 7th or 8th grade.
Over the course of four weeknights, students and mentors form small groups. Each group programs a chassis with sensors using Blocks or Java to complete a series of programming tasks. Many tasks are related to a maze style game challenge. On the final evening, all groups exhibit their most complex programming for everyone.
